Write Columbia's History
Graduating from Law School at the Millennium

School of Law 2000

I remember being a 3L at Columbia in 2000, the year many law firms' starting salaries jumped 25 percent over the course of a few months. I remember the law students crowding into the computer lab, pouring over the Greedy Associates Web sites, and seeing if our chosen firm had jumped on board with the salary changes. Our eyes were bright with dollar signs and we were excited about the increase, but still we wondered if maybe we shouldn't be starting a dot com instead. A year later, everything would completely change.
