Columbia's football team scored its biggest victory on Jan. 1, 1934, when it defeated Stanford 7-0 in the Rose Bowl. Led by coach Lou Little and quarterback Cliff Montgomery, the team slogged through the rain, its margin of victory provided by halfback Alex Barabas's 17-yard touchdown run.
In 1999, as part of the commemoration of a century of athletics at Columbia, the Spectator named the 1933 football team the greatest team in the University's history.
